Peter Ilich Tchaikovsky, or Tschaikowsky (1840-1893)
Peter Ilich Tchaikovsky successfully united western European influences with native Russian fervour and emotion, and was the first Russian composer to establish a reputation with Western audiences. His many romantic works include six symphonies, three piano concertos, a violin concerto, operas , ballets including The Nutcracker, orchestral fantasies, and chamber and vocal music.
