Charles Francis Adams (1807-1886)
Adams was an American minister to England who played an important role in keeping Britain neutral during the American Civil War. He was also the American member of the international tribunal who arbitrated the Alabama claims. He was the son of John Quincy Adams and the grandson of John Adams.
