Simon Cameron (1799-1889)
Cameron was a wealthy businessman, newspaper publisher, and politician who became the boss of Pennsylvania Republican politics during his time. He served as United States senator and secretary of war under Abraham Lincoln. However, when he was accused of corruption in army contracts and appointments, Lincoln removed him from the cabinet and appointed him minister to Russia.
