Champ Clark (1850-1921)
Champ Clark of Missouri was the Speaker of the United States House of Representatives from 1911 until 1919. Clark narrowly lost the presidential nomination to Woodrow Wilson at the 1912 Democratic Convention. He served as a representative in Congress from 1893 until his death, except for the Fifty-fourth Congress (1895-97), when he was defeated.
