Lucretia Rudolph, Mrs. James A. Garfield (1832-1918)

Lucretia Rudolph Garfield was the wife of the twentieth president of the United States. Mrs. Garfield loved the intellectual life and she and her husband belonged to a locally celebrated literary society. The President and his wife enjoyed reading together. They had seven children, five of whom survived childhood.
