David Bremner Henderson (1840-1906)
David Bremner Henderson was a Republican congressman from Iowa who was elected for ten consecutive terms and was the unanimous choice of his party for the speakership of the House in 1899 and again in 1901. During the Civil War he fought for the Union and was wounded twice, once in the neck and once severely in the left leg, so that it had to be amputated. As a legislator, Henderson fought for pensions on behalf of Civil War veterans and their families.
