Francis Edwin Brownell (d.1894)

Union lieutenant of the 11th N.Y. Infantry (also known as Ellsworth's Zouaves). He became famous for shooting James T. Jackson, the murderer of his colonel, Elmer Ellsworth. Ellsworth was the first Union casualty of the Civil War.
