Louis Douglass Watkins (1833-68)
Brigadier general of volunteers in the Union Army. Wounded at Gaines's Mill, Watkins recovered to direct the cavalry of the Army of the Ohio. He won brevets for Thompson's Station (TN), Lafayette (GA), and Resaca (GA). Watkins finished the war in Louisville. In this photo he is a colonel.
