Amasa J. Parker (1807-1890)
Amasa Junius Parker was a lawyer and jurist who was active in New York state politics. He was a member of the New York state assembly (1833-1834) and was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives for one term (1837-1839). He was a circuit judge in Albany (1844-1847) and a judge of the supreme court for the third district (1847-1855.) In 1851 he helped to found the Albany (N.Y.) Law School. Parker ran unsuccessfully for governor of New York in 1856 and 1858.
