Henry Clay Pierce (1849-1927)
Henry Clay Pierce was a businessman and financier who was considered one of the four richest men in the country. His business interests included railroads, oil and finance. Clay and William H. Waters established the Walters-Pierce Oil Co. which later became a subsidy of Rockefellers Standard Oil Co.
