Andrew Johnson (1808-1875)
Andrew Johnson became the seventeenth U.S. president after the assassination of Abraham Lincoln. He was the first president to be impeached. He was the only senator from a seceding state to remain to back the Union, which is why Lincoln chose him as vice president. Johnson is in the same chair in which Lincoln was photographed five years earlier.
