Henry Clay (1777-1852)
This daguerreotype of Clay at age seventy-one was reproduced in "McClure's Magazine" and was used on the last stamp issued by Blood's Penny Post in Philadelphia. Henry Clay was an American statesman known as "The Great Compromiser." Clay was a congressman, senator, speaker of the house, and secretary of state.
