Garret A. Hobart (1844-1899)
Garret Augustus Hobart was vice president under William McKinley from 1897 to 1899. A successful businessman, Hobart had earned a fortune by 1895. He was very active as president of the Senate and influential in his relations with McKinley, restoring respect for the position of vice president.
