Daniel Boone (1734-1820)

Daniel Boone, an American pioneer and frontiersman, became a folk hero. He was the central figure in the settlement of Kentucky. When Kentucky became a county of Virginia in 1776, Boone was elected a captain of militia. He also served several terms as representative in the Virginia legislature.
