Louis Agassiz (1807-1873)
Agassiz was a Swiss-American zoologist, geologist and professor at Harvard University. He was a very popular lecturer and teacher and an influential scientist and naturalist. He founded the Museum of Comparative Zoology at Harvard. Although his own work produced some evidence of evolution, Agassiz bitterly opposed Darwinism and believed that new species could arise only through God's creation.
