Adlai Ewing Stevenson (1835-1914)

Adlai Ewing Stevenson was the vice-president under Grover Cleveland from 1893 to 1897 and the democratic vice-presidential candidate with William Jennings Bryan in 1900. Stevenson was also a U.S. congressman from Illinois. He served as a transitional figure between the conservative tradition of democracy under Cleveland and the progressive brand under Bryan and Wilson.
