Lesser Lights, Washington's Clock and Masonic Lodge Hour Glass
The lesser lights of the Alexandria Washington Masonic Lodge were used at George Washington's funeral. The clock was in Washington's bed chamber when he died. Doctor Elisha C. Dick, Master of the Lodge, cut the pendulum cord and stopped the old timepiece at ten-twenty P.M. Three days later Martha Washington presented it to the Lodge. The pendulum with its cord severed is shown to the left of the clock, and the hour glass to the right.
