Charles E. Hughes at Universal City
Charles Evans Hughes (1862-1948), was the governor of New York, secretary of state under Presidents Harding and Coolidge, and the chief justice of the U.S. Supreme Court from 1930 to 1941. Hughes was appointed an associate justice of the Supreme Court in 1910, but left the court to run for president in 1916. He lost to Woodrow Wilson in a very close election. Here Hughes is shown campaigning at Universal City.
