Edward Steichen(1879-1973), Janet Sandburg, and Lillian Sandburg (d.1977)
Edward Steichen was a photographer, painter, and museum curator. During WWI he served in the photographic division of American Expeditionary Forces. During WWII he was director of the Naval Photographic Institute. After the war he was director of photography at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City. Lillian Steichen Sandburg was his sister and the wife of Carl Sandburg. On the swing is Janet Sandburg, one of Lillian and Carl's three daughters.
