Robert Sherwood (1896-1955)
Robert E. Sherwood was a playwright, editor, and member of the Algonquin Round Table. He won the Pulitzer Prize for his play "Abe Lincoln in Illinois" (1938), and for the WWII memoir "Roosevelt and Hopkins" (1948). His play "The Best Years of Our Lives" was adapted for film. He was a speech writer for Franklin D. Roosevelt and headed the office for war information from 1941 to 1944.
