Henry Dana Washburn (1832-1871)
Henry Dana Washburn was a Republican U.S. congressman from Indiana from 1866-69. In 1870 he led an expedition to find the headwaters of the Yellowstone River and discovered what is now known as Yellowstone Park. Washburn served in the Union Army during the Civil War. Mount Washburn in Montana is named for him.
