Victor Nehlig (1830-1909)
Victor Nehlig was a painter who was born in Paris, but came to the United States in 1856. He lived in Havana, Cuba, and then settled in New York City. He was elected an associate of the National Academy of Design in 1863 and an academician in 1870. Nehlig was best known for his works depicting events in American history.
