Edward Dickinson Baker (1811-1861)
Edward Dickinson Baker was a U.S. congressman, U.S. senator, and soldier. He was a political associate and friend of Abraham Lincoln. Lincoln named his second son Edward in his honor. Baker was killed early in the Civil War at Ball's Bluff, a promontory on the Virginia bank of the Potomac River.
