George Pearson Buell (1833-1883)

Before the Civil War, George Pearson Buell was a civil engineer, having graduated from Norwich University in 1856. He entered volunteer service for the Union army with the 58th Indiana Infantry. Buell was brevetted Brigadier General, U.S. Volunteers for “long, faithful, and most valuable services, and for able management of the pontoon train.”
