Henry Capehart (1825-1895)

Henry Capehart was commissioned a surgeon in the 1st West Virginia Cavalry at the outbreak of the Civil War. He was promoted to Colonel and brevetted Brigadier and Major General, U.S. Volunteers for his war service. He was awarded the Medal of Honor for saving the life of a drowning soldier while under fire at Greenbriar River on May 22, 1864.
