Caspar Crowninshield (1837-1897)

Caspar Crowninshield was a Union soldier who served as Captain of the 20th Massachusetts, was transferred to the 1st Massachusetts Cavalry, and then to the 2nd Massachusetts Cavalry where he was successively promoted to Major, Lieutenant Colonel, and Colonel. He was brevetted Brigadier General of Volunteers and commanded a brigade in the Army of the Shenandoah.
