Gustavus Adolphus De Russy And Staff

Gustavus Adolphus De Russy attended West Point, but did not graduate. He fought in the Mexican War and served as a regimental quartermaster at Fort Monroe from 1848-57. Upon the outbreak of the Civil War, DeRussy was a Captain in the Regular Army. He served the Union army as an Artillery officer and was brevetted Brigadier General. He is shown here (seated on the left) during the Civil War with his staff.
