Alexander Samuel Diven (1809-1896)

Alexander Samuel Diven was a member of the New York state Senate in 1858 and a Republican U.S. Congressman from 1861-63. Diven also fought in the Union army, organizing the 107th New York Volunteer Infantry and serving as a Lieutenant Colonel and Colonel. He was brevetted Brigadier General. After the war he was the vice-president of the Erie railroad and the mayor of Elmira, New York.
