Alexander Brydie Dyer (1815-1874)
Alexander Brydie Dyer graduated 6th in the West Point class of 1837 and then served in the Seminole War and the Mexican War. At the outbreak of the Civil War he was assigned to the command of the National Armory in Springfield, Massachusetts, despite misgivings about his loyalty since he was a native of Virginia. In 1864 he was promoted to Brigadier General and Chief of Ordnance. He was also brevetted Major General.
