Edward Ferrero (1831-1899)

Edward Ferrero was teaching dance to West Point cadets and was Lieutenant Colonel of the New York state militia at the outbreak of the Civil War. He was commissioned in the Union army as Colonel of the 51st New York Volunteer Infantry and then promoted to Brigadier General of Volunteers. He was brevetted Major General of Volunteers and returned to ballroom dance instruction in New York City after the war. He was born in Spain.
