George Brinton McClellan with His Wife

George McClellan is shown here with his wife, Mary Ellen McClellan. They married in 1860 and had 2 children. The daughter of a superior army officer, she had previously turned McClellan down, favoring instead his old West Point roommate A. P. Hill, but her father forbade the match.
