Charles Fenno Hoffman (1806-1884)

Charles Fenno Hoffman is shown here in an engraving by John Sartain. Hoffman was a poet, novelist and author. He was the first editor of the Knickerbocker (then Knickerbacker) Magazine, editor of the American Monthly Magazine and the New York Mirror, and for a short time was with Horace Greeley on the first New Yorker.
