Robert Fulton (1765-1815)

Robert Fulton was an American inventor, engineer, and artist, who brought steam boating from the experimental stage to commercial success. He also designed a system of inland waterways, a submarine, and a steam warship. This illustration of Robert Fulton with three steamships below his portrait was created in honor of his birthday in November, 1765.
