Cotton Mather (1663-1728)

Cotton Mather was a Puritan clergyman and writer who helped to forward learning and education and to make New England a cultural center. He graduated from Harvard with a B.A. in 1678 and an M.A. in 1681. He was ordained in 1685 and became a colleague of his father, Increase, at North Church in Boston.
