Hannibal Hamlin (1809-1891)

Hannibal Hamlin was vice president during Abraham Lincoln's first term in the White House. Hamlin was also a congressman, U.S senator, and governor of Maine. Hamlin began his political career as a Democrat and switched to the Republican party in 1856 becoming a strong advocate of emancipation.
