Calvin Coolidge (1872-1933)
President Calvin Coolidge looks quite distinguished in this photograph of him standing in a darkened room. Coolidge became president in 1923 after Warren Harding died. He would be elected to his own term on the Republican ticket in 1924. He brought honesty back to the office after the corruption in Harding's administration, but he failed to do anything to prevent the looming financial crisis.
