Calvin Coolidge
Calvin Coolidge gazes out of a window with a blank look on his face in this photograph taken during his Presidency. Coolidge ascended to the office in 1923 when Warren Harding died suddenly and was elected to his own term on the Republican ticket in 1924. He brought honesty back to the office after the corruption in Harding's administration, but he failed to do anything to prevent the looming financial crisis.
