"Bison Dance of the Mandan Indians"

This is the Swiss artist Karl Bodmer's depiction of the bison dance of the Mandan Indians. This was one of the many works Bodmer created during Prince Maximilian of Prussia's journey through the American West from 1832 to 1834. The captions are in French and German, as well as English.
