George Washington Lafayette Fox (1825-1877)

Brother of Charles Kemble, Fox first appeared on stage in Boston at age five. When the Civil War broke out he joined the Union army and fought at the battle of Bull Run. Fox decided to become a manager as well as an actor. From 1867 to 1868 he was the stage manager of the Olympic, in New York, where he was a great success as the clown in the pantomime "Humpty Dumpty at Home," written by his brother. Although good actors, he and his brother were peerless as pantomimists.
