Kate Chase Sprague visits Abercrombie and Staff

The dynamic Kate Chase Sprague visits General John J. Abercrombie at one of the defensive camps outside Washington, D.C. during the Civil War. It was not uncommon for civilians to visit. She was the well-known daughter of Salmon P. Chase and wife of William Sprague, the wealthy senator from Rhode Island.
