Young Washington on Horseback

This book illustration shows a young George Washington on horseback with the following lyrics from a verse of Yankee Doodle: "And there was Cap'n Washington upon a slapping stallion." The song was originally used by the British to make fun of the colonists, but now we use it as a patriotic song.
