"Unemployed Apples"

In this photograph from 1932, formerly successful businessmen are reduced to peddling apples. The Great Depression struck both rich and poor. By January, 1930 four million Americans had lost their jobs, with hundreds of thousands soon joining the ranks of the homeless.
