Henry A. Barnum (1833-1892)
Henry A. Barnum was a Union soldier during the Civil War who was left for dead on the field at Malvern Hill, but survived, was captured by the Confederates, and was later exchanged. His wound, shown here, was considered one of the most remarkable of the war. The government published a history of it, with his portrait, in the surgical and medical history of the war.
