Philip Hattel
This prisoner of war was starved at Andersonville Prison and was too far gone to be saved. In the photograph his knees have been tied together by a piece of string because he was too weak to hold them together. Hattel, who was from Pennsylvania, died less than two months after Lee's surrender.
