Le Ballon de Lyon

This is an illustration depicting the very first flight in a Montgolfier built hot air balloon. The flight lasted 25 minutes and covered 7 miles and over 400,000 Parisians, including Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette, witnessed the event as for the first time in recorded human history, we left the confines of the Earth's surface.
