General Robert E. Lee' s Letter to General P.G.T. Beauregard

"If you cannot determine what troops you can spare, the Dept. cannot - The result of your delay will be disaster - Butlers troops will be with Grant tomorrow." Lee and Beauregard were defending Richmond against the Union troops at the time this letter was sent on May 30, 1864.
