Early Brady Photograph of Lincoln
This is the first photograph taken by Mathew Brady of Abraham Lincoln after his inauguration as president. This postcard's caption reads: "Born February 12, 1809. Elected President 1860. Inaugurated President of the U. S., 1861. Reelected President, 1864. Inaugurated, 1865. Shot by John Wilkes Booth at Ford's Theater, Washington, April 14, 1865; died April 15, 1865." This is one of many postcards published in 1909 to commemorate the centennial of Lincoln's birth.
